Fisheries genetics refers to the application of genetic principles and methods to fisheries biology and management. The Fisheries and Aquaculture team is engaged in fisheries genetics projects at a pan-European scale. Our research interests lie in the use of genetic tools for species identification and origin assignment to promote sustainable fishing and to counter illegal activity by promoting the traceability of fish and fish products.
